Individual grants are made by the John Edmonds Charity and Sir Thomas Rowe Charity in association with the Cirencester Society in London.

These individual grants are supported by two local charities, which were established more than 300 years ago.

Additionally the Cirencester Society in London which was established in the late 17th Century, raises funds each year from its members, which are paid to the John Edmonds Charity.

Apart from one bursary awarded annually of £1,000, the grants are usually made in amounts of no more than £500.

Grants are normally awarded where the applicants show that a grant is required for them to further their education, career, or develop an already established skill or talent.

Bursaries are available to help towards the cost of :

The Trustees do not consider applications for assistance with university or college fees or expenses for a first degree for which public funds are available.

1. RESIDENCY : Were you born in Cirencester or are you a resident there, or its immediate neighbourhood; or were one or both parents born in Cirencester

2. EDUCATION : Are or were you a student at Powell's, Cirencester Kingshill or Deer Park Schools?

3. AGE : Are you under the age of 25 years (as at the date of making the application),

4. TRAINING/EMPLOYMENT Are you in training for (or engaged upon) any profession, trade or occupational service (including apprenticeships)



IF SO THEN YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT FROM ONE OF THE CHARITIES

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

The Trustees meet 3 times a year when applications are considered.

If your application is received after a meeting, then it will be held on file until the next meeting. The Clerk to the Trustees can update you, on request.
